Equity starts where you are.
Authentic awareness and action begins in our most intimate spaces. I provide in-home, personalized equity sessions designed to turn the complexity of oppression into a sustainable practice of joy.
The Practice
The practice is rooted in the transformative frameworks of Dr. Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz’s Archaeology of Self, Dr. Jamila Lyiscott’s Fugitive Action, and the liberating pedagogies of Dr. Bettina Love and Dr. Christopher Emdin.
Equity as Autobiography
With over 36 years in education, my work is rooted in the belief that authentic awareness begins in our most intimate spaces. The stakes remain the same whether it’s at home, in a classroom, office, or outside: How we show up determines our collective liberation.
I treat equity not as a static theory, but as a living, breathing practice. I provide personalized sessions designed to turn the complexity of systemic analysis into a sustainable and joyful practice for individuals and organizations alike.
Using frameworks like Fugitive Action, we don’t just read about oppression; we identify it, map it against our own lived experiences, and emerge with the tools to disrupt it. This is where your personal history meets your public responsibility. We write, discuss, and we take calculated risks necessary for collective liberation.
Equity is Joy.
Impact & Reflections
Working with Vera has been a deeply meaningful experience. She is kind, compassionate and genuinely thoughtful. Vera has helped me to discover my why. Through the Fugitive Action Framework, she has guided me in understanding the dynamics of white privilege both around me and within me. She has empowered me to disrupt with confidence and purpose. I truly valued our time together.

Vera guided me and a small group of colleagues through equity work over the past two years. During that time, I deepened my understanding of my own autobiography and its importance in developing my equity-related skills. We also learned to use Jamila Lyiscott’s Fugitive Action Framework to identify different forms of oppression, helping us fully grasp the complexities and influences within a situation. From there, we practiced taking informed action to address those challenges. As a group, we have been able to imbed this practice into our team meetings to both continue to look in the mirror and to look outward to continue this work. Vera’s leadership is grounded in love, and that foundation is evident in every aspect of her work.

Working with Vera has been one of the most impactful experiences of my professional career. Her ability to create a safe space while pushing us to be uncomfortable at the same time is unmatched. Vera provided us with tools to bring into our work space and has dramatically changed the way we hold meetings and collaborate as colleagues. I cannot say enough about Vera and the work she does! I feel truly blessed to be able to work alongside her and learn from her!

Movement.
Risk.
Presence.
Whether I am climbing outside, in the classroom, or leading a professional development session, the stakes are the same: How we show up for ourselves determines our collective actions. I don’t believe in separating our identities by the rooms we inhabit. My work as an equity consultant is informed by the spirit of the outdoors and the precision of systemic analysis. I help individuals, couples, families, and organizations navigate oppression by treating equity as a living practice, one that requires the same presence and calculated risk as an ascent. Together, we move beyond theory into the joyful and rigorous work of real-world liberation.
